2 I'm sorry for the quotes, unfortunately, it's not possible to struggle with weak tests with the slow system. I cannot recall what you are saying. Maybe I missed something, sorry beforehand.. Yes, You missed something. I loved all those longs except your two experiments :). So, you should say sorry for those 10 beautiful long challenges which I participated. Long was my favourite among long, cookoff, ltime and cf rounds (only contests which I took part). Proof - Just check my long Graph. Monotonically increasing in contests which I seriously took part. It was long which pushed me from 1star to 6star. I'm sorry for the Snackdown elimination, seems it really was the worst contest ever.. I wasn't qualified ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Weak Mind Admin => Binary Search DownVote button. Press it. Maybe the best thing I can do is to make several Educational Geometry contests with strong test data. Will love to participate. I love longs because practically I have Inf. time to find a soln. I will miss those chit chats xD. Will definitely miss you. Waiting for a comeback. answered 27 Jan, 13:33 2.7k●1●6●18 accept rate: 10% if there is an fft or hld then the problem is hard I'm searching for an hld task for a while. So that I can submit. Because found hld task in Long which I participated. And I want to see one hld task :P (27 Jan, 13:37) 1 I mean I have no idea how to use all corner cases for easy problems in 1-2 tests against 17.5k participants. As far as I know SPOJ can't handle scaling, that's why we're not allowed to have many TC cause the queue and other things. Haha xD glad to hear that! :) Yes, your progress is reasonable, I see many guys who solved longs grew up, glad to see YashChandnani progress Yeah, the wrong statement and googleable problems turned out into the bad contest. Unfortunately, there is not many setters. :( Binary search interactive :P Okay, be careful, I'll be back :) (27 Jan, 13:43) mgch6★ 2 There was one hld in May, one hld in June, and one more hld in August: RIVER, I recommend you to solve RIVER, it's the most interesting Hld task of these three (27 Jan, 13:46) mgch6★
7 I'm notifying that I decided to left the position of CC long challenges. SORRY!! Tuck you. I was having such a great day :( I'm sorry for the NP-hard task, but it was better than fft :( I'm sorry for the trading challenge, I tried to show for everyone what trading is :( I'm sorry for the quotes, unfortunately, it's not possible to struggle with weak tests with the slow system :( You never gave a good quote to me T_T I'm sorry for the unfresh ideas. The many good ideas is not new :( Nothing can be fresh with already so many problems in competitive coding archive. I'm sorry for the Snackdown elimination, seems it really was the worst contest ever.. :( As I said, ${\Huge {\frac{dK}{dC}}=0}$ Maybe I missed something, sorry beforehand.. Yes you frickin missed it. You broke my heart $< / 3$ . I still remember - we both ebgan our journeys together :). Your first time as contest admin, my first time as official editorialist. Now Chef Vijju's Corner will never be the same without the great eye who-sees-everything-except-when-I-replace-$10^{-6}$-with-$10^6$ I wish I can convince you to stay :(. I really dont know what you're talking about when you say you failed to make long interesting - you dont have any control over the problems proposed. I wish you could change your mind :(. However, I wish you all the best in whatever you chose to do :) You'd rock it, I am sure of that! answered 27 Jan, 15:35 15.5k●1●20●66 accept rate: 18% 1 How do you like the idea of educational contests with prizes? (29 Jan, 06:55) mgch6★ Just like rest of your ideas - fresh and worth trying :) (29 Jan, 18:45) Yes.. I tried to ask guys the problems with magicians and assistants, interactive problems but 2 Times. But seems it's impossible, idea of @isaf27 (30 Jan, 13:45) mgch6★ I suggested to keep rating lists for the problem proposals, let's how it goes. (31 Jan, 08:14) mgch6★
2 Do not leave like this. You did a lot of good work too. Long challenge in january was not as good as others but you are doing a good job. We only want balanced short contests. answered 28 Jan, 19:55 4★yaminote 137●5 accept rate: 3% I was not good problemsetter, cause adding persistence to the problems doesn't make them interesting. Unfortunately, it's not OK overall. I would love to host Educational contests on CodeChef. (29 Jan, 06:49) mgch6★ Will be waiting for those contests. :) (29 Jan, 08:04) yaminote4★
2 Don't leave No, please don't leave. You have been doing a great job. We people have been getting some really good problems to solve and the explanation of problems too. answered 28 Jan, 20:39 54●4 accept rate: 16% 4 Thanks! I would love to prepare the Educational contests with prizes for free. (29 Jan, 06:36) mgch6★
8 Just wondering why Codechef can't speed up its system. Codeforces was developed by 1 or 2 people and now it can handle short contests with 10000 participants and has about 10 pretests in the easiest problems (which get the largest number of submissions). Also Codechef must have some sponsors because it gives money prizes in Long contests and pays the problem setters more. So I don't see any reasons for having so slow system and this ugly website for so long time. Buy machines to have more invokers, rewrite the website. answered 29 Jan, 00:51 99●3 accept rate: 0% I would suggest you to be one of the admins for sure. Seems I'm not a good admin, I couldn't find good hard problems and organize the people as well, but yes, the system is quite old and needs to be improved. I heard that discuss will move to discord, maybe it happened as well. (29 Jan, 04:20) mgch6★ So, yes, the one of the main problems is the absence of the good hard problems (I don't take hld/fft/other heavy-to-implement stuff to the account), For the long challenges: it's a tie-breaker. Many of guys don't want to participate, cause it's boring to solve it. I suggested to make the contests educational(problemsetting-free and use the prizes 750-500-250$for the first-to-solve except the tie-breaker instead of the payments to the problemsetters, this proposal was rejected) There is not many new ideas from 2014-2015 years and the system isn't well-defined. (29 Jan, 04:34) mgch6★ The hosting of Snackdown worth 200k$. But the problemsetters would choose TopCoder or atcoder, we should have the setters from atcoder or so... (29 Jan, 07:43) mgch6★
2 Hello mgch sir. I've been in touch with you since an year and you have been an unblemished Admin according to me or other setters or participants. There is nothing like having HLD or FFT just for the sake of making the contests dreadful. And moreover, unique problems using FFT or HLD like stuff require a lot of work in the backend and cannot be just farmed in a go. I really appreciate your efforts of inculcating geometry problems and problems that require logic, because, after all, even I had a Geometry one this contest xD. You have been a constant support and please rethink about your decision of leaving. You already know .... We are currently on many problems left raw in the oven that we need to discuss upon :( Please, at least, don't leave like this. PS:- I've grown up in this community looking up to you. answered 29 Jan, 13:15 171●6 accept rate: 0% Probably, I will have a chance to visit snackdown (29 Jan, 17:08) mgch6★ That is a great thing then. (29 Jan, 19:13)
5 Long Challenges are the heart of codechef (they make cc very unique). I learnt all the basics of cp by taking part in this contests. I think you did a great work, being an admin requires to be highly creative, to be critic and also to have an open mind, so feel proud of your hard work! If cc needs help on the other side of the board, I'm always glad to help:) answered 29 Jan, 18:20 7★alei 272●5 accept rate: 0% 1 Unfortunately, I'm not creative :( there are a lot of bugs inside me, imaginary "i" seems better than I :) And your problems asking for the thinking, it would be nice to see you as the admin (30 Jan, 13:08) mgch6★

I always enjoyed your contests from both side of the board @mgch...
It was really nice working with you as a problem setter and your contests were also much better according to me...

I never missed any of your long challenge :D

(29 Jan, 21:46)

you really did well as an admin...

(29 Jan, 21:58)

I implemented around 5k-6k tasks, but you know I'm stupid. Standard techniques like: port the problem from the array to tree, add the persistent DS or other add-on don't make the problems interesting. Thinking on problems > implementation of them

(30 Jan, 13:38) 6★

The world built on the implementation and strict TLs can't be crashed in one moment

1 I liked ur contests though. Learnt a lot through them :3 And I dont feel the problems were only based on implementation either. There is nothing I would like to complain about tbh. Hope the next admin sets equally good contests. I also had a query, regarding resubmission of problem ideas. Do i just reply to the mails that were sent to me after problem-idea-submission, or do I have to fill the google form again? answered 30 Jan, 21:29 628●8 accept rate: 10% I also had a query, regarding resubmission of problem ideas. Do i just reply to the mails that were sent to me after problem-idea-submission, or do I have to fill the google form again? NDA filling and google form filling has to be done only once. (30 Jan, 21:49) Cool. Then I just replied to the mails that had come as a response after the idea-submission. Hope they will be reviewed :) (31 Jan, 09:27)
2 There is a Need Of a discord Server For Codechef.Every Oj have their official or unofficial Oj.It will Help to co-ordinate the problem settings. All u need is to Make a bot That can Link codechef account to user. @vijju answered 04 Feb, 16:30 1★khiljee 39●3 accept rate: 0% Actually a good suggestion. I will discuss this with @admin (04 Feb, 17:16) 1 Inform Us.I will suggest and Help To make a well Maintained Server as I am already in Many such oj's Server :D (04 Feb, 17:24) khiljee1★
3 Just noticed this thread :< I think you've done a great job! Setting different problems and coordinating for months is definitely not a easy task to do. I myself haven't come up with any new ideas for a month or two, just take it easy. My testing with you was quite interesting and I enjoyed it. Agreed it would be better if the system can be improved so that more tests can be allowed, testers can work as in polygon (submit validators, brute-forces, etc. easily), but anyway it's not the fault of your side. Sorry to see your leave and good luck on your next journey! answered 06 Feb, 19:21 116●3 accept rate: 33%
1 Well , @mgch it's only after you became the CodeChef Long Admin , that the Longs have started becoming interesting . The Last year especially , the Longs were too good and intriguing atleast for me and i hope everyone else in the community agrees. Also in this huge archive of Competitive Programming problems , it's not easy to create a new problem with fresh concepts every other day. So i wish , you should remain the admin because unknowingly, you contributed a lot to CodeChef community making Longs more interesting and educative than ever. P.S : I had a short interaction with you while setting Chef and Ridges in Nov Long, and it will always remain special as my first ever problem on CodeChef with you as admin. answered 06 Feb, 21:56 5★sshhhh 66●5 accept rate: 10% At first I thought that, that problem is hard, then I used a very big piece of paper and it got solved XD!!
