Is it true that there will not be any penalty for the compile time errors?

I heard that there are no penalties for the compiler time errors during the contests.Is that true?
I found that in the ACM ICPC Kharagpur.Is that the same way for all the contests?Or is it only for the ACM contests?

yes there is no penlty points if its gives you compile time error in acm icpc kharagpur contest and rules for each contest is diffrent so check the rules before you participate in any contest.
