Some thing you can do to improve your skills:
- You first learn any language perfectly and then start solving easy questions.
- You should start with spoj. (go here: Sphere Online Judge (SPOJ) - Problems)

But I would suggest you to practice more and more codes not only spoj or codechef
You must also solve the coding questions of the book you are reading to learn a language
If you want to learn C follow Yashwant Kanetkar . That is a great book for it …solving some of the questions from it will boost you.
Then you can very easily solve codechef easy problems and start from the bottom one. One thing you must take care while solving codechef problems is that here the output of the problem must match as required you can’t include extra print statements other than the required one …Otherwse , you will get a WRONG ANSWER ,even your answer is correct
