How can the answer be 12 ? Please Help…

The problem setter has chose not to explain the testcase for a reason. It would be wrong to give out anything , anything at all that is not mentioned directly in the problem statement. So please, respect the problem setter’s views and refrain from taking part in any of such discussions.
