Decreasing participants in Div 2

From past rounds, the number of participants in div 2 have decreased drastically. Before 5-6 months participants would at least be upto 4k-5k but now even the first question is solved by just 1.5k. What may be the reason for this decreasing numbers? Any idea?

Maybe people are participating very less now because they get very less delta now-a-days.

Or maybe cause its starters, and not much people give codechef regularly. People just show up for Lunchtime and Cook-off which are not organized.

@nitinkumar1238 @pushkar31 please find below the participation for contests. The primary reason for the drop in Div-2 participation is the change in our initial rating for new users from 1500 to 1000.

  • Earlier - a lot more users would move into Div-2. That has now changed since users move into Div-2 after multiple contests.
  • Div-2 participation seemed higher earlier - those users will have dropped to Div-3 now.
  • Div-2 participation is not very different during START v/s COOK / LTIME
