When I tried to create an instance in ECS on the alibaba cloud I was asked to enter billing information. Is it necessary tho? Could I just host my api on the cloud without entering my billing (credit card) information? Is there a way?
Check the email you received from the Chef, it clearly states that no need for that.
The email says:
“Step 1: Create a free account on Alibaba Cloud by going here (Login). At the end of the registration process, you will be asked to enter payment details but you don’t need to enter them and you can proceed with the step 2.”
