We invite you to participate in CodeChef’s Starters 227, this Wednesday, 25th February, rated up to 5 stars (i.e. for users with a rating < 2200).
Time: 8:00 PM — 10:00 PM IST

Joining us on the problem setting panel are:

Written editorials will be available for all on discuss.codechef.com . Pro users can find the editorials directly on the problem pages after the contest. The video editorials of the problems will be available only to Pro users.

Also, if you have some original and engaging problem ideas, and you’re interested in them being used in CodeChef’s contests, you can share them here .

Hello Admins,

After the rating update for Starters 227, a large number of users (including myself) are seeing an extreme rating drop (in my case ~1700+ points).

This kind of drop is mathematically unrealistic under normal rating calculations, and it appears to be affecting many participants.

Could you please confirm whether this is:

  • A temporary rating recalculation?
  • Backend syncing issue?
  • Or final official rating?

Requesting clarification from the team, as this has caused significant confusion across the community.

I am experiencing the exact same issue. My rating was reset from 2126 to 240 (-1886 points) immediately following the update for Starters 227.

I finished at Rank 6 in Division 1, and I have noticed that every single participant in my division has been reset to this same baseline rating of 240. This is mathematically impossible under the standard rating algorithm and points toward a major backend synchronization or script error.

I look forward to the restoration of the original rating.
