It's all on you Codechef

When the automated tool detects similarities among any solutions, a Mail will be sent to the respected users. They’ll have to give due attribution to what they submitted as their solution. If they fail to convince the Codechef authority, their rating will be decreased. Two or more such events will result in Ban of accounts too.

Bro I’m also a beginner, I would suggest that if you are not capable to solve all question ( let’s say you can skip 1 or 2 question) then you shouldn’t check ranklist. Because there will be cheaters and you gonna demotivate yourself at last.

Yeah, I decided not to participate in Long Challenges. Good that one can see the questions without logging in when the contest is going on. So, I will better not log in and practice those questions instead of participating and making myself a fool.

if you have fear of loosing ratings, not getting a better rank. Then bro let me tell you that this is the reason why people cheat.

Thats true

I don’t know how codechef does it - but I guess they will have different thresholds of similarity for different problems. A problem like in a list of 100 numbers, find the smallest number. All the answers will be similar. Further, before issuing bans - I suppose a mod will review your code to figure if you cheated.

Reducing the length of the contest from 10 days to 5 days could help.
Any thoughts on this?

In my opinion, people cheat to inflate their ratings and showcase on Linkedin or somewhere. If Long Challenge gets unrated , i think people will not cheat much.

it doesn’t matter where u stand in the leaderboard. I mean its just a platform to practice and check urself how capable u are. Always think on the bright side as you said u are gaining knowledge right then why u get depressed. I know it’s annoying but lets ignore the cheaters and do more practice.

but how? when everyone is using black magic, lol

From my institute only i found mass plagiarism. Submission links:

Ideally, if you want to report that some users have cheated, or if you want to appeal against having been caught for plagiarism, you should only send an email to help@codechef.com , and wait for a few weeks to get a reply.

But despite this instruction, if you do feel that you need to say something publicly, you can use this topic. Any other new topic/comment that you start related to this will be closed, and you will also risk getting suspended.

That’s rude

But necessary

Do you seriously think that during a contest (esp. the short ones), coders would have all the time to check out all test-cases?
I would suggest after a coder has got AC, the solution should be locked/hidden until the contest is over.

Totally agree with you…

they use MOSS for plag check, so basically if about 85%+ code is similar, then it is considered as cheating
Not for simple questions, as then the codes are mostly similar…

@admin One thing which can be done is to keep the deadline of each question to one day. That way a participant can get ample amount of time on the problem, and cheating can be reduced a lot.

:rofl::rofl: brother Its codechef account, not one’s resume…btw who told you these tricks

Those who are cheating in long challenge and taking AC solutions from their friends. Tell me one thing,
Will they be able to do so on codeforces? Where all contests are short and based on time.
Will they be able to do so in their interviews?
These people will soon get to know about their foolish act i must say.
