Rating related issue

I am new on codechef…I am not sure how to increase rating and I am currently at 0 star rating… will solving practice problems or 1v1 challenge increase my rating or it can only be done using challenges like lunchtime or long? please let me know

You can only gain rating points by participating in weekly STARTER contests.
