I really don’t understand the rating system, I got 1450 rating just after solving 1 problem worth 100 points. In this contest (April long challenge 2021), I solved 8 problems (800 points) and rating got increased to 1672, really? I should be having at least 1900 rating by now.

It isnt rated as u said. Go through CodeChef rating system instruction.

The rating system is really messed up, as you can see when I posted this topic (1 hour ago), my rating was 1672 ( 3-star), now it is 1520 (2-star).

The highest growth can be +275. In your case, it is 1672 - 1450 viz., 222 and that’s huge growth. Participate in two more contests and perform in the same way, you’ll probably become 5*.

This will be resolved soon I guess. Because, there was a short rated contest on 06-04-2021, while the long was happening. Rating changes for both of them are happening simultaneously (I guess). I am sure everything will be fine after about 12 hours.

Hey, I think I found the reason for this. I checked your profile and found that you participated in International Coding Marathon. That’s a rated contest. Your performance was low, that’s the reason why your rating is reduced.

No, you did. Here’s the proof.
As you can see, you submitted a solution at 10:10 PM on 06-04-21, while the contest is still running. This is the reason why your rating is reduced. Sad to see that though.

Thanks for the appreciation. As my exams were going on, that’s why I solved only one problem in February. But in this month, I am completely free and spent a lot of time on solving those 8 problems. If I could get that much time in February, I could have solved more than that.

I was very late at joining that contest and didn’t know about the penalty.

Because There was international coding marathon contest on 6th April rated for division 2 and 3. Your rating was incremented due to April challenge result and decremented due to ICM contest.
You can able see both rating changes soon. Like it showing in my profile.
