Dear CodeChef Team,
I am writing to report a significant issue regarding the rating changes following CodeChef Starters 227.
It appears that every participant in this contest has had their rating reduced by approximately 1800 points. In my specific case, I was ranked #5 when the contest concluded and I did not engage in any illegal measures or unfair practices. As a result of this apparent bug, my rating has dropped from 5-star to 1-star.
I would like to point out that when a user is penalized for cheating, their profile typically displays a “Cheated in Contest ” tag. However, in this instance, all affected contestants have had their ratings dropped without any such tag appearing on their rating graphs. This indicates that the reduction is not due to a violation of terms but is likely a technical error.
This sudden drop creates a negative impression of cheating despite no rules being broken. I urge you to investigate and fix this bug as soon as possible to redeem our previous ratings.
