Continuing the discussion from Unjustly Penalized in CodeChef Weekly Contest: My Experience:
Dear CodeChef Support Team,
I hope this message finds you well.
I am writing to follow up on my plagiarism appeal for a recent CodeChef contest submission, as I have not received any response after submitting the appeal through the standard process.
To reiterate, the similarity between my submission and another participant’s code is due to the use of a widely available public Competitive Programming (CP) template, which is shared for community use by a known YouTuber. I can provide themlinks to the publicly accessible sources. They are from 2 years ago.
While this template results in some structural similarity (macros, utility functions, etc.), the core problem-solving logic in our solve() and main() functions is clearly different, both in algorithm and implementation.
I understand that CodeChef’s Code of Conduct (specifically, Point 7) requires attribution for third-party code. While I missed adding the attribution comment during the contest, the rule also states that in such cases, it is the participant’s responsibility to prove that the code was publicly available before the contest — which I have done here.
“But in case you have missed giving attribution to a third party code, and you get caught in our plagiarism check, then you have the option of proving to us that this was indeed a publicly available code.”
I have made sure I have not violated any other rule or guideline, and I genuinely value the integrity of CodeChef contests. I respectfully request you to please re-evaluate my submission and consider this explanation.
Please let me know if any further clarification is required from my side.
Thank you for your time and support.
Warm regards,
Manas Chaturvedi
