This time i didn’t participate in Long Challenge because i knew everyone’s gonna cheat and because of these cheaters, genuine contestants are gonna get let low ranks. Even the EXACT same codes are passing plagiarisms idk HOW! Pls look into this otherwise long challenges will eventually be turned into just a competition between cheaters.

And ya! make sure you tag all cheaters here so that atleast some can be identified directly.
Some from my institute only are :
1
2
3
4
5
6
7

Let’s be straight: plagiarism is something you have to deal with on codechef. The team may do crackdowns once a while but that’s all. There is no easy solution for this. Some may open their shop in social media and make a living out of it, but the only thing that matters is what is your purpose of spending time on the long challenge and if that purpose is achieved or not. Usually the purpose should be to have fun or learn new things - which should happen regardless of others’ performance. What’s your purpose?
Of course increasing ratings can be a purpose for many, but one already knows what we are dealing with before signing up for long challenge and who we are up against. As you already know that the submissions rate involves cheating, there is nothing to be disappointed in your skillset. So when I say that someone with a 3000 rank without cheating would actually be a 3 digit rank if nobody cheated, nobody would disagree. Personally, I always like to take it as a challenge to get the best rank possible for me against all the cheaters out there, it helps me push myself.

I see a lot of posts - “I wasted N days of my life on long challenge”. Please don’t do it if you feel you are wasting your life, you will not get this time back. It needs to align to your purpose. If the ratings concern you mentally, you are welcome to use long challenge only for practice and don’t take part in rated contest.

About stars, having good one might be a very small advantage in few places in resume screening, but not having any is never ever a criteria in interviewing for the biggest of companies.

@cubercoder is this you in that telegram group who is distributing solutions ?

Haha, even Gennady Korotkevich is selling solutions on these groups for 50 INR. Don’t believe those fake names.

joking ?? obviously not.

wow :joy: :joy:

Lmao it’s an honor for me that people are using my name to sell solutions. :innocent:
(Just clarifying for any confusion: i am in div1 and this sounds like the menu for div3)

I’d like to report these two

code1 code2

also, for this problem, I’d like to inform the admin that I used previously, publicly available code and slightly modified it. submission. Hope this will not be mistaken as plagiarism

Too all the people who get demotivated by long challenges i wrote this blog exactly for this purpose so do give it a read, unfortunately cc admin merged my blog with this thread even though my blog’s purpose was completely different :sleepy:

If you use an already available code than mentioning the link from where you got that code in your program is enough.

I just went through leader board of Div 2 and I was surprised to see almost 90 people having score 710.335 (Despite the fact that this time challenge problem was there).
So it decided to see submissions of few guys and I found many of them has almost same code.
Few examples are:
Check out submissions of rajan9353 , rajan0909, s_amardeep and adi_c0d3.
Dense graph submissions:
rajan9353’s submission
rajan0909’s submission
s_amardeep’s submission
adi_c0d3’s submission

If you see all these submissions carefully then you will find that these submissions either have template changed or variables changes.
Let us discuss about few legends in detail.
Firstly coming on s_amardeep. This guy has made his code unreadable by adding unnecessary code which is known as Code Obfuscation . His logic of code only lies between line 277 and line 316. Code from line 11 to line 276 is just useless.
Now coming to our ultra legend rajan9353 and rajan0909 . I also doubt these two id’s belong to same person because of these points:

  1. rajan9353’s submission and rajan0909’s submission have only two differences. If you delete rajan9353’s template (which is almost of 347 lines) , then you will find that these are exactly same (only variables are changed).
  2. Checkout another submission by rajan9353. This submission is same as that of rajan0909.
  3. Most obvious point both are named Rajan Arora and belong to same college.

I was not gonna write all these things but I was suprised and sad by seeing the amount of effort these guys are doing to cheat. Hope moss is strong enough to detect this plagiarism. Also @admin please take action for Code Obfuscation on rajan9353 and s_amardeep. And action of cheating on all of them.

Most of the people you complained are from NIT Jalandhar. But a lot of people have got the same score and almost all of them have cheated.

What procedures does CodeChef follow to detect plagiarism and what steps does it take to address found cases?

I was left with a bit of sour taste today. I participated in this month’s long challenge and was ranked under 200 till today morning. Question 7 “Dense Graphs” had less than 100 successful complete attempts. By the end of the contest at 3:00 pm, within few hours, successful attempts to question 7 had moved to more than 500 successful complete attempts. My rank moved to about 400.

I understand that a number of people might be contributing towards the end of the contest, but to see such an increase in numbers of successful attempts within few hours to a reasonably challenging problem, seemed a bit odd.

I understand the perspective of people who see ranking and rating not as important, but I think when four good companies sit on the contest to hire and when one is looking for a job, possible cases of plagiarism could surely affect adversely.

Would love to get enlightened on the whole topic.

Thanks.

I know all of them have cheated but I can’t mention all of them here. I just mentioned submissions which I thought are too much. Also I just mentioned 3 people and i don’t think complaining people from same college make them less guilty. Atleast their batchmates and seniors will get to know about their reality.

I never said that complaining people from the same college is wrong. I just put out a fact that most of them are from NIT Jalandhar.

mail all the submissions to codechef that will help them to work on it quickly.

Could it be bcz of this :upside_down_face:

See no matter how much is done in these questions, how easy are the questions or how many answers are leaked…1 rank will be secured by only one person. Someone has to grab 1st position and someone 1000th even with the cheating. So I don’t think codechef rating are going to be obsolete and even if it will, it will not be due to cheating because number of 5 star coders will always be less and there will be always 1000 coders in top 1000 global rank.
