Contests are just for improving skills. Isme cheating krke long run m kya he mil jayega inhe. Let us work on ourselves and stop giving our precious time thinking about the cheaters.

I think CodeChef should stop hosting long challenges or at least make it unrated and ban the accounts of all the people who just copy others solution and add some useless functions and loops to avoid MOSS test.

PLEASE donā€™t make it unrated. It will waste 10 days of my hard work. I got 61 rank (inclusive of cheating in TILESQRS). My overall rank was 14 one day back. Since problem setter of TILESQRS discovered that 192/227 solutions of TILESQRS are copied. Once those solutions are removed, I think I will get the 14 rank again.

Even if cheated solutions are not removed, Iā€™m ok with 61 rank but at least donā€™t make it unrated. I suffered with same problem when last short contest was made unrated. It wasted my time.

Trueā€¦ but sadly people only care about ratings so that they can show off their ratings like a prized possession to bag referrals and interview opportunities :triumph:

what about those people who have worked their asses off for 10 days. Donā€™t they deserve any rating change? Doesnā€™t matter cheaters are getting rating changes or not but those who have fairly given the contest they at least deserve some fruit for their hard work.

Bro as if it is some JEE exam where rank matters

Got a bit frustrated there.

So you should be happy with your rank right, how does making the contest unrated affects you ?

Exactly, if u can do it now u can do it later also during the company test.

people are selling solutions on youtube

ya it may lead to less cheating

Itā€™s more than JEE exam. Rank matters because itā€™s deciding criteria of many hardcore research companies/labs. Codechef is a sport. Just like a JEE is sport. The actual fun of a game is only when there is ā€˜scoringā€™ in game. Do you know any game without scoring ?
Iā€™ve been solving codechef problems since years but didnā€™t submit/write the code. This time I wrote the code ā€¦ only for ratingsā€¦ o.w. I could have simply solved in notebook. but if they donā€™t count rating for this contest, it will be very bad for me.

Ok. So you believe CP is sport. Tell me name of ONE sport, which is fun to play and which donā€™t have ā€˜scoringā€™ ?

and first of all, asking for the rating ā€˜you deserveā€™ is not same as ā€œrunning behind ratingsā€. There is not ā€œsadā€ part in asking for the rating you deserve.

First of all, asking for the rating ā€˜you deserveā€™ is not same as ā€œrunning behind ratingsā€.

Second - Iā€™m not looking for any company test. Iā€™m already a working professional and I design questions for coding-exam for hiring candidates.

Third - What if the ā€œcompanyā€ is not ready to take your test if you are not 5* on codechef, then ? What if HR is dumb enough to not understand anything you wrote in your resume except CP-rating and reject your resume ? There will be not test in that case.

CP is a sport. Every sport has ā€˜scoringā€™. Only then there is a fun playing it.

totally agree with your point!

What are ranks then ?

Making just one contest unrated wouldnā€™t have any effect. Cheaters will continue to do so in future. It would be better if codechef comes up with some different idea or type of contest.

See these for reference :

Itā€™s icc-rankings of cricket. I believe everyone will agree with me that ā€˜cricketā€™ is a sport. Hence I answered your questions.

Calm down dude why be so obsessed with ratings, if you got the skill then you can do it as many times you want, so why bother ?
