They’re gonna get caught by MOSS even if they change variable names.

AFAIK, it takes a few months, but they’re always checked, and another few months before their rating is dropped.
It takes time, but it happens. I’m sure Codechef tries to do it as fast as they can, but Comparing hundreds of thousands of solutions from 30k participants against each other is pretty time-consuming task.

Me and my two other college friends gave this contest together adhering to the rules that we could submit solutions to a contest discussing among contestants so long as the id from which solutions are submitted is one for the whole team. The friend from whose account we submitted our solutions got banned due to cases of previous plagiarism for which we are deeply regretful. However as that account had been banned it wouldn’t affect the ranklist so we as a team were free to choose an ID to submit our solutions from which explains the one go AC situation.

We had worked really hard solving these problems devising solutions with various sleepless nights and we hope that the community understands our hardwork and that we didn’t mean any harm to anyone’s feelings.

i guess MOSS is not applied every time. last time it applied in february challenge or i guess april challenge.
here is the snaps of same execution time and memory limit so, they should be caught in moss. lets see will they be caught or not in coming days.
It doesn’t work this way. Running MOSS takes way longer than that.

@admin I am tagging you because I am unable to understand the thought process behind rule 9 which allows people to participate as a team even if submissions from only 1 id is allowed. Either it should be a team contest or it should only have individual participation to be a fair rated contest. Just wanted to know the reason behind this rule??
This is because some people want to prepare for ACM-ICPC. In this contest, one can take part only in team (which consists of 2-4 students of same college). By taking part in these type of contests in a team, it really helps to build a team-spirit among the students. To promote this, Codechef as well as Codeforces allows to participate in team. I hope this clears your doubt!

Bro, there are team contests. I am a regionalist myself. Codeforces GYM is there for team bonding. Mashups are there. Virtual Judge is there. Codeforces does not allow team participation in cf rounds afaik. This is not a very good reason to allow team participation.

Such submissions using two or more accounts clearly violates the codechef code of conduct and must be disqualified. These kind of people are responsible for the criticism the long challenge is facing.

This is a clear violation of rules. This massive amount of cheating results in a huge drop in ranking of other honest users. I agree that rating is just a number.
But what is the point of conducting challenges in this manner if such things prevail.
Thus i would request @admin to look into this matter and take strict action against these users.
