Something needs to be done about handling traffic. CodeChef servers are always down during the Cook Offs.
This causes a lot of frustration everytime :\

Yes. This has been an issue with us in most of the CookOff’s. The thing is that it is not that nothing has been done on this front. We have done quite a few changes to our architecture and things have improved way more than what it used to be when we started the short contests. But fortunately (or unfortunately) for us even our user base has constantly increased. For those who may not know, we witnessed the highest ever participation in the last CookOff (COOK39) and unfortunately our load balancers did not work the way they were expected to.

Not that we are trying to give an excuse, but please be assured that we are mindful of this and you are only a contest or two away from having a smooth CookOff as a regular event. We know we must be prepared for the growing participation and all the unexpected things that may break during the high intensity CookOff, and we are getting there. But sometimes, things just do not go the way you want them to.

We work with the hope that we will be able to provide you a better experience with each passing contest. Your trust and faith is all that we have. We urge you to not be too disappointed and keep encouraging us in small ways that you can.

Thanks for your participation, feedback and patience.
