What the need to write contests?

I have participated in six contests so far. In my first contest, my friends and I unknowingly submitted the same code, which resulted in a plagiarism flag. I completely accept that outcome. However, since then, despite making genuine attempts in every contest, my rank has been consistently decreasing.

This trend is quite discouraging. It makes me wonder whether attempting future contests is beneficial if my rank continues to drop regardless of my efforts. I would like to understand why this is happening. Could you please provide clarification on how rankings are calculated and whether the initial plagiarism flag has any lasting impact on my performance metrics?

And no, your first contest performance do not dictate your future rating changes. If you keep solving more problems and fast, your rank and rating will improve.

then what about those 2 contests , why are those decreased, its completely discouraging
