Why isn't my score increasing in starters 110?

This happened with everyone the scoreboard was lagging yesterday and becoz of that we werent able to see the real time updated score. Dont worry it didnt affect your ratings

@harsh73goyal How come I lost rating even though I answered four questions in my division?

I answered 3 question in DIV 2 although I do admit it was a little slow but not as slow as it resulted me in -119 rating.
But…Shit happens and i moved on

@ayush_31r im pretty sure that isnt the actual rating though, the majority answers 2-3 questions so getting 3 or 4 should AT LEAST keep you on the same rating, not lose.

Pretty sure its the final rating…I expected -30 at max seems like i couldn’t be more wrong.
Unlucky glitch man what can we do.

All off my frnds who answered 3 questions didn’t lose any rating

Probably because of time they solved the questions but still a 119 decrease is too much

In most of these competitive programming contests, the change in rating is related to your rank in the contest and not to the number of problems solved by you. Quoting from the official CodeChef website about rating mechanism,

Based on your existing rating and the other participating players’ ratings, your probability of winning against each of them is calculated.

Your rating change is heavily influenced by how your peers perform in the competition. It is just like an IQ test. If suddenly everyone gets smarter(except me), then my IQ score will decrease. This is because 100 IQ is just the average, and if everyone gets smarter, the average intelligence level of a 100 IQ person will be increased, which will result in my IQ score dropping.

Edit: The huge rating drop of @ayush_31r is mainly due to the fact that your rating is a provisional one. This means you will get heavily rewarded if you do good in a contest, and will be heavily penalised if you do bad in a contest.

Yeah I figured so…That’s why I didn’t think it as a big deal and moved on…thanks for clarifying tho
