I have participated in 5 contests and solved at least 4 problems in each contest but still i have 1 star only, while some of my friends (started codechef in 2021) have appeared in only 7-8 contests and they have 3 stars.
Is there any more resources to increase stars beside live contests?

Thanks for posting your query. The key here is to keep participating in rated contests. Your ratings are awarded based on various factors, I encourage you to check out CodeChef Ratings to find out more about how ratings are calculated.
Besides participating in rated contests, you also become more proficient in problem solving, by practicing problems from the Practice Section. While this doesn’t directly increase your ratings, this still helps you perform better in rated contests
