i have been frequently participated in codechef starter but they are decrementing my ratings without any cause ,besides i have solved questions in those starter

In Starters 91 Div 4, I’ve obtained rank 60 and got +40 in ratings. But users having lesser ranks than got more increase in their rating. Why?

I have solved 2 problems in Starters 91 and my rating got increased by +1 only It didn’t happen like that in any of the previous contest .please review it again

There are many factors which go into calculating your new rating. Such trivial comparisons won’t work. If you’re interested, you can read about it in detail here.
Read the mentioned article, but still can’t digest how on earth, this is possible.
So even when two players aren’t provisionally rated, a player with a lower rating with a better rank is possible to get a lower rating increase than a player with a higher rating and a worse rank?
