No, I did not appear.
@sumo_1999-
Today I Also Gave Foundation Level Exam ,Solved 3 Questions And Scored 350 , Am I Passed ? Because https://www.codechef.com/certification/data-structures-and-algorithms/levels 9 Here It Says Anyone Needs 375 to Pass The Exam , And During Exam I read In Instructions That 350 is Passing Marks
You passed. 350 was the cutoff for your foundation exam.
I have not received any such e-mail yet… Are you sure that all e-mails regarding scores have already been sent…?
I just said they were sent when I gave my CCDSAP. The process might have changed. Please ask at help@codechef.com
Was anything to be done after the end of exam…? I just logged out of my CC account and walked away…
AFAIK no.
Well in my opinion, what I found weird in CCDSAP is not allowing use of templates. At least for Java its sucks, when without writing a FastIO template you eventually might get a TLE. Why should I bother remembering the whole fast IO just for this exam?
AFAIK they take care that TLs are not tight. I heard they kept TL as high as 4 (meaning 8 seconds for JAVA after multiplier) seconds just so that FastIO is not required?
Also, isnt bufferedReader good enough? I know that Scanner is tedious, but I feel bufferedReader was fine? Fine as in, not as slow as cin,cout without FAST IO trick.
Also I don’t think giving standard algorithms direct implementation is a nice idea to judge anyone’s skills rather problem solving. Again its my opinion.
I disagree. Its an exam, and they dont expect Einsteins. People mess up in even simple problems and algos. Like, really bad mistakes even in easiest problem of the sets.
I personally feel that exams should actually ask for standard things if the purpose is to check candidates knowledge of topic, as it means even dev guys can give the exam without devoting excess time in CP.

When we are supposed to get results of ccdsap?
You already know your score and cutoff, right? Certificates can take 2-3 weeks, but the result that you passed or not is clear at the end of contest? Has the system/procedure/rule been changed ?
@aman_robotics -
BufferedReader takes ip in a line, need to split it in a array form again type cast it. I simply don’t like this.
Well, you not liking some method is strictly your problem and none of CCDSAP admin’s concern. Just an honest reality check. Yeah, sounds a lot harsh than needed but thats how it is. Sorry! ![]()
@l_returns -
Like I did almost everything except DP and they asked dp :pensive: Bad luck and my bad.
Your bad IMO.
I was not able to see my last submission is accepted or not due to continuous net connection lost in my system, and even i have not received any mail from cc regarding scores?
PM help@codechef requesting your score. They will provide you all required data about your last submission if you request (except, of course, TC it failed at in case it didnt pass)
I too thought 4th was the easiest, but when I got 3-4 WA’s I realised the question is entirely different
In my time as well XD. I read questions 3 times at arrived at different interpretations each time despite the statement being clear. Exam stress it was for me.

I think they knowingly made the tough questions ( CCDSAP SCHOLARSHIP SCENE) so that many of students do not manage to pass and hence they apply next time with full fees. Because the earlier contest which is given on codechef was relatively very easy compared to this one .
I believe not. Ask any experienced coder who gave the advanced and he’d say that Qs were pretty direct and basic both times. Plus, this kind of analysis does not exactly best motivation to strive to improve.
@vijju123 can I get my submissions (I want to know why I was getting the run time error) and questions and if possible the editorial .
Mail help@codechef.com . They will definitely let you know what the error was. Editorial, depends on head admin. AFAIK chances for it a nil as people can then leak out the question.
@anujsingh14-
Maybe because of huge participation they might have raised the bar.
Look, thing is, if the Qs would have been easy, everyone would say CCDSAP advance is shit. If they are not easy, people will say they arent easy due to coupons. People will say something all the time and hence that is not a factor at all which Codechef will ever consider.
The purpose of certification fails if varying level candidates get passed depending on which set they appeared for, so they do try to maintain homogenity across all sets.
@sumo_1999-
what is minimum marks to pass foundation level exam?
Varies from Set to Set but typically 350.
@anon55659401 -
I can pass it too, just let me use my libraries and google docs :wink:
Anyone can pass it if you give them internet. Lol. I believe if you fully understood how Convex Hull trick works, you can code it. Same for Centroid Decomposition etc. If you can’t, then you did not understand it fully or are struggling at implementation.
I can implement all things of interview by myself, what I can’t implement by my own is convex hull,fft and centroid-decomp. And I don’t think interviewer are asking from those topics :stuck_out_tongue:
Wellllllllllllllllllllllll. A few coding companies copy paste Qs in coding round which would make you miss your templates ![]()
OOOOOOOHHHHH the great vijju’s great reply(-ies) to everyone has come !
I am the first viewer and liker

350 ( 20 charssssss)
Yeah totally agree with you. And the problem set for advanced was really nice and balanced!
Nice problem set but just compare it with the past test given on practice page. There is huge difference in difficulty. Don’t know why.
Hello , May I talk to you in private to discuss about 2nd question of advanced ? I have been scratching my head all day but still can’t find solution to it and I solved it partially. Btw I solved problem 3 and 4.
@nehra_1997 - Lol XD.
Nice problem set but just compare it with the past test given on practice page. There is huge difference in difficulty. Don’t know why. :woman_shrugging:
I feel you are underestimating the test given. The first 2-3 are pretty much ok. Standard algos. But even this time people are saying that it was standard algos and their implementation.
A4 of the set made public is actually somewhat of a Medium problem of Codechef. And even the fifth problem needed a good observation to make multiple segment trees. I do not think any problem harder than it would get approved for CCDSAP by the admin. I feel you feel those problems were hard as you were underprepared - because I see many claiming that problems were pretty standard.
Ohh can you justify how ?
PS : I believe you have seen syllabus of advance properly and prepared for it as well when you say that.
I had prepared everything expect DP and “bridges and articulation points”. ( can implement anything you want me to except this two)
Problems didn’t required any great tricks/observations. Knowing the mentioned algorithms/data structures in Advanced syllabus would suffice to pass the test (atleast for me it worked out well). Problems were very appropriate for a 3 hr duration test. In the end, its my opinion, it may differ from anyone else’s.
BTW, I wasn’t able to solve last one, but for passing, solving only 3 was enough.
So by balanced you mean length of problems (/contest) was appropriate with time ( 3hrs ) ?
@anujsingh14
Maybe because you were good at DP.
I failed because I couldn’t crack both DP and I couldn’t solve 4th one as it was not direct application of anything I guess.
2nd 3rd we’re fairly simple. I agree.
This doesn’t mean I completely disagree on “it was balanced” in any way
I am just discussing with you.
And I am weak at Math
Somebody save me plz
By balanced I meant to say that problems’ difficulty level was according to the syllabus mentioned in advanced level, and yeah, the problems’ length too.
Ohh okay, agree with you on difficulty level and length.
It was not difficult according to what people are saying in general.
But yeah it was difficult for me.
Because I am weak at DP.
And also not too experienced ( I know only simple implementation) with scc of directed graphs so couldn’t solve 4th one.
So maybe same goes with you. Maybe DP or graph is tough for you ?
4th one trolled us hard
@nuttela - 4th one trolled us hard :joy:
Seems interesting
. Can you share why? (On PM if not in public
).
Everyone was trolled by 4th one

Hi just wanna ask one thing, @vijju123, i think if this is a test for data structure and algorithms, then a person not doing competitive coding should also be able to crack it, and there were 3 questions on graphs, so if one is not good at it, he/she looses the chance to crack it. If there are so many topics then why distribution should not be such that everyone atleast gets a good chance and ya definitely it was harder than the previous ones. Please correct me if am wrong.
Thanks
