ICPC 2019 online round discussion

Wow! That seems right!

I also got WA due to this then i observed not all three are supposed to be consecutive but if any two are consecutive this should be considered too and got AC

when will we get the final ranklist?

Hi !
Our team got AC on sum-OR problem but our solution doesn’t work for “20 19 17” . Will it get accepted or codechef people may add extra test cases and rejudge for this problem ? ( Because i have heard from many teams that they did the same )
@vijju123 @admin @Anyone

afaik, they never altered selection policy after contest.

As I said, I cannot help here. I am myself a participant this ICPC :slight_smile:

If a team topped from a college and has rank just less than 500, how are the chances that it would qualify for Kharagpur Regionals? Any references from the past please!

When will the rank-list be accessible? Any idea?

@dhruv_is_back Read this

Competitive Programming and Coding Challenges - CodeChef On this page, do a Ctrl+F for ‘ICPC’

I think there should be rejudging of 1st question with improved test cases for the contest to remain fair.

This testcase caused my team 5 WA.:expressionless:

My team had opted for pune-gwalior as regionals, we solved 3 questions and got a rank of 700, we were the second ranked team in our college, but the first team too had pune-gwalior as one of the regionals, do we stand a chance of making it ?

See line 17, ind = uc.index(a), which clearly of complexity n.
Hence overall complexity of your code is O(n^2).
You were supposed to use dictionary in this question.
Same goes for line 16 and 12.

When will the contest problems be available for practice.

No, unless they plagiarized, get caught and are removed from the ranklist.

I am also in a similar situation

I’ll say high chances.

Yes this might make it somewhat fair. There are very few cases possible here.

  • Re-Contest - I don’t see this happening seeing past ICPC contests and codechef’s behavior and responsibility towards them. And anyways i am pretty sure issues will happen there also even if there is a re-contest.
  • SUMOR gets deleted - This is unfair to those who spent time doing this question. Even if they got an AC on a wrong code they spent time on it which they could have spent on some other question if it was WA.
  • SUMOR gets rejudged - If they do this, so first of all they should provide a valid solution which exists for the given constraints(which i hardly doubt does seeing discussion on codeforces blogs). Even if the solution exists and they rejudge it with new test cases its still unfair as people could get AC if they would have got WA at that time for their wrong solution.
  • Codechef does nothing - If this happens, i really don’t know what should be said. There wouldn’t exist a more unfair contest of this high stature than this.

My team didn’t solve the SUMOR problem during the contest so its not affecting us but this is a serious issue and needs to be addressed for a contest of this stature. Also as none of the above options seem fair leaving the first one which i personally don’t see happening, the solution suggested by @chandu4594 may make things a bit fair as all those who suffered will get atleast a single regionals site to go to. Anyways i personally think atleast one site should always be kept on MERIT. I don’t know why they changed the last years selection policy of Amritapuri. It is quite fair to have one site selecting purely on the basis of MERIT and others putting a cap based on college.
