Plagiarism in June Challenge 19

I was browsing through submissions to get to know the method to solve the INTRPATH.
And shockingly this is what I found within the first 3 search pages.
4 users submitting and getting 100 points for the exact same code.

This is how good long challenges are !
I do know MOSS test runs for the contests but just wanted to highlight how blind the users are in spoiling this sport.

They will surely get plagarised. wait for the MOSS results.

If they copy each other and have exactly same code , then the codechef decrease their 250 rating.@admin

One of the users wrote upar #define ghatiya problem…smh

A small disadvantage to other users is that ratings are already calculated on the basis of ranks. Even if some users are taken off the rank list for plagiarism, ratings of other users will be same. Codeforces catches plagiarism and skips the solution of the users who were caught before they calculate final ratings and ranks during system tests itself.

Thank you, for pointing out!

Hey that’s not cheating. That’s lca code for binary lifting taken from github library of ashishgupta. Abdullah has done similar things many times . It should not be treated as palgarism as we are allowed to copy algorithm codes …🤷🤷

In that case he should mention the source . That will be treated as plagiarism.

Kindly look at remaining functions too including main.

Actually in those solutions, the entire code is same. Not only the template of lca is copied, everything inside int main() is also same. And extra utility functions defined are also same which is not there in lca template.

Oh… yes if it matches 100%, then I can’t say anything , but matches like 90% or so, may be due to the github library…

I have seen such instances while completing Engineering Assignments. :stuck_out_tongue:

That won’t be detailed plagarism check and it might escape many case compared to codechef system.
Codechef even does a manual check (obviously not all pairs) to ensure that no one innocent should be plagiarised and it keeps scale such that max number of people who did plagiarism get caught
And codechef also recalculates it again

It is plagiarism unless you mention link in comments
See code of conduct :expressionless:
Do you expect codechef to go over all internet to search if this code exist somewhere else ?

50% above is plagiarism if it’s not due to template or io library or input output

So I’ll you one truth. Everyone coder once makes this mistake of copying code when they are initially not aware of the rules. I did that once(Don’t judge  me) and I received mail from Codechef saying that it will decrease the rating by 275 points but its been more than 5 months but no action has been taken. I think you can let anyone walk like that, do something whatever you can.

No it is not plagarism.

agreed, but look at the solution. 90% of the lines is occupied by the template, which is sure to match. Regarding mentioning in the comments, I didn’t know any such thing, so I won’t reply anything on that.
By the way, congratulations for 6 star :grin:

Thanks a lot !
