Plagiarism penalties - Ratings drop - August 2020

I don’t understand. Why are people just not ready to accept that they made a mistake, accept consequences and move on.

You people are Competitive programming Karens. You will say any stuff to favour your argument while all admin is saying is that “You broke rules, they took action”.

Chill out, let CodeChef heal. Stand together to improve competitive culture.

I just don’t understand one thing. 1 month back, people were telling “Codechef does nothing”, " Its all on you Codechef" and other. Now when, you got the punishment, you are telling to remove that mark too. Just chill and move on. Nobody cares whether you have been plagiarised or you have got +100

One question. If two div1 coders share same code for non rated problems. Will moss run on them? Asking out of curiosity. Will they be considered for cheating since questions are unrated.

Hehehehe, edge case.

I am a noob bro. I can be wrong.
I remember it is written somewhere(if you try some Div 2 question which are unrated for Div 1).

Yes! You can check the contest page.

I have a doubt too, MOSS runs on every single question or question with submission less than X

I have a doubt toooo, did you plagiarize on question with submission greater than X?

Is copying a block of a code from gfg, or from some other participant’s template from past contests, if not provided link in the form of comment considered plagiarism?

You should mention it, but if you didn’t, mail it to codechef.

“Taking help or using a third party code is not bad. Passing it off as your own is. If you are taking your code from some other source, it is expected that you give the due attribution to the source in your code. It is kind of mandatory."

Oh okay. I still have a couple of templates copied from online sources but now I have forgot their source. I’ll make sure to do so from next time, giving proper credits.
