@admin Which concerns and what issues and atleast say what have you done to keep them in perspective?.
I donât know, but we didnât face any such problem while copying and pasting⌠See if it is Codechefâs fault, everyone , literally everyone should face a problem. But, majority didnât and a very little minority s claiming such. Maybe they copied wrongly.
I havenât faced any such issues.
Dude, let me enumerate the issues with this contest.
-
1st question is available on the internet:
I agree that itâs not a significant issue since itâs a cakewalk problem and can be overlooked if itâs the ONLY issue with contest. -
1st questionâs statement was ambiguous:
Whether leading 0 is allowed or not cannot be cleared by the sample cases, because there are multiple answers this case.
I didnât implement this problem using strings so I didnât face any problems, but the teams which used strings faced problems(time waste + 2-3 penalties ).
Again, I think that itâs not enough for a re-contest, but stand in their shoes and understand the pain of getting 2 penalties on the 1st question.

SUMOR question is not solvable in polynomial time:
I donât know what to say. How the did the tester not verify the proof of that greedy algorithm?
On top of that, itâs the DECIDING question for selection.
Our team solved 4 questions and decided to spend time on this question. like some of the other teams, we came up with that greedy solution. Although we didnât come up with counter example, we couldnât prove that greedy algorithm either. we donât go about submitting every greedy idea we get without any proof right? that too in a 20min penalty scenario. Had that question been not there, we wouldâve worked on other question and might have solved it.
The most likely thing thatâs gonna happen is that this question will be deleted. That not only affects teams like us, but also teams which submitted that question, since this question is the deciding factor for the top 200 teams.
Individually these issues might not need a re-contest, but the fact that all these are present demands for a re-contest.
I do understand that re-contest is not practical as codechef needs time to prepare another problemset. Judging by the behavior of codechef and icpc, that probability that itâll happen is close to zero.
But I believe that re-contest is the right thing to do(as no other solution wiill bring back the time lost by that participants) and request cc community to not complain about it.
Hey ! I donât think re-contest would be a solution . All i think is to get rid off a problem or just stick to the original ranklist . Even i had a penalty for the first question
Re-contest is definitely not a solution. I think the most appropriate solution would be to remove the SUMOR problem and update the ranklist accordingly.
CodeChef had already said this in the comments/updates before the contest not to use IDE mode for submission if any problem is encountered. You should be careful about things.
Codechefâs Ranklist ----
Is it final ? @admin @s5960r @vijju123 @anon55659401 @l_returns @sshhhh @harish_49 @ankur314
I know only as much as anyone else. SoâŚ
Yes bro , may be its final
Bhai ab to dangal hona chahiye . Mazaak bana ke rakhe hue hai yaar ye Codechef waale. We people expect so much from Codechef , and they are like f*** the people⌠. I mean wtf , do they really think that people will anyway use this platform no matter what they do , seriously ??
Codechef should really ,either schedule the test again or cancel the SUMOR problem âŚ
Chill bro. They will definitely announce something.
One possible solution can be to make a separate list for people who got AC on ORSUM. They are the ones who spent the most time on it.
No, those who got an AC should deem themselves lucky. We, for example, spent close to two hours trying to figure out a correct solution looking at the high amount of solvers, and we kept hitting roadblocks in our logic. The teams that didnât get an AC on this problem are at a higher loss. Keeping that in mind, itâs fair from all points of view to remove the problem and be done with it.
Yeah , and this leads to have only two possibilities ,retest or cancellation .
Where will be the results published
Can anyone share about what is team invites in ACM ICPC
Rankings link, if incase anybody missed out:
Looks like you ranked 21st in the school ranklist.
Based on what happened last year, CodeChef will send an email to all teams who solved at least 1 problem for onsite regional preference (last year the two options were Amrita Coimbatore and Kharagpur I think). Each site will have around 10 slots for school teams. All the teams who participate in the contest usually donât come for the onsite, so you have a decent chance of securing a slot.
After all the teams have filled their preferences, the list of teams per site is usually announced on the website.
