ICPC India Regionals Online Round 2019 - Updates

I think you need to read the qualification rules again. Let me know if you are unable to find them!

Then it would be another disaster. Consider the case, where some team struggled with the 1st questions because of that statement and faced 1 or 2 penalties(there are many) and did a total of 4 questions(including the SUMOR). Now according to the current ranklist he must rank somewhat less than 190s. Now remove the SUMOR question, the team who did not even read the question of SUMOR and had 0 penalties in the 3 problems solved will rank below this team. I don’t think even this is a solution.

But there’s no such possible solution which takes polynomial time. Hence the “SUMOR” problem must be removed.

Something is getting definitely wrong… wait for regional directors to come up with a soln…

We came at the 25th rank for schools. Will we be selected for onsite as someone mentioned there were only 10 slots / college?

Where are you getting the ICPC school ranks

filter by searching for icpc for schools

Depends on whether better teams decline to participate in the onsite.

But we were told that people solving 1 problem in the online will be eligible? Is the qualification not properly specified

The team with the better rank.

Well, I guess eligibility ≠ getting selected. I may be wrong though.

How accurate is the expected list ? We secured 114 rank in kanpur region first from our college in kanpur . What are the chances we can get selected ?

@ranjan1234 If any team’s ranklist of kanpur is greater than 100 , the chances are very less . The same situation for me :pensive:

Are there any chances for increasing the seats in Kanpur ?

seat never increases , they just write tentative .

why the hell teams with ranks >=1200 could be given opportunity for appearing
in Amritapuri site , when teams with rank less than 120 cannot appear for the same.
what kind of Diversity do they want to create with this?

I just have 2 issues:-

1.) Since when “Andho me kana raja” is applied in real contest and too in Amritapuri Site
As I can clearly recall that in previous year, teams were selected on basis of ACTUAL RANKINGS in Amritapuri site.

2.) Why college toppers who have solved less than 3 questions will be given opportunity for TWO sites in the name of DIVERSITY ,
but others having solved 4 questions aren’t getting EVEN ONE.

Rules for Amritapuri selection criteria changed after site choice filling, and god knows on basis of which “Voting”,
and even then the actual selection criteria is not clear to anyone ( except “admins” ).

**WHAT A FAIR SELECTION CRITERIA :sleepy: **…

Single answer to both of your why’s
They are doing that for getting more number of seats in world finals. :stuck_out_tongue:

I guess Since 1950 ? ( when indian reservation system… )
My rank was ~320 in online round.

I feel the regionals and whole event won’t be fun if only iit’s and nit’s teams meet at regionals. The whole point of regional is not only contest.
Keeping some seats reserve for top teams and allowing others is better imo. Again it’s my opinion. Your opinion might differ. I am not commenting on number of top teams which should be reserved.
Culture in a college affects a lot and you’ll realize this only if you join one. And Ik its little unfair with some teams but…

Atleast one region should select based on rank. That way, teams that got <200 rank can participate in atleast one regionals. It’s sad to see that teams which got >1k rank participate in two regionals as they are topped their college, while our team (rank <200) cannot participate in even one because we didn’t top our college.

Yeah that can be done. I don’t mind if they announce it earlier and all regionals decide mutually.
