Why bother having contests then? Just solve practice problems.
To all who create thread in every long that it should be unrated.
If you have so many problems then just donāt give the contest. Also, I donāt know how do you come to know that sol are available on youtube or telegram or any other place if you havenāt searched for it. Cheating is even done on CF. But people donāt care much as it is short contest and you donāt get time for searching on youtube or any other place. So, people donāt know where sol are available. At last, cheaters are cheating themselves. So, just do your best.
@anon74515879 I completely understand your point. But few of your points are pretty vague. I feel following Codeforces pattern will be more apt.
Few suggestions:
- Showing results based on preliminary test cases like Passed Pretest and some hidden test cases which will be judged after the contest. This suits both the cases a user get some idea if they are going in the right track and some pretty nice cases kept hidden.
- Reducing the length of the contest is quite debatable.
- Open hacking phase when other participants can hack solutions if they can find a failing test case. (Will encourage people to work more on the logic by generating test cases which can be eventually added)
- Rating calculation changes based on Problem locking. (Once you lock a problem you cannot submit more submissions to it or maybe submit but that will not get counted towards your rating.)
Yeah, an irritating trend, which should hopefully stop with all the rejected flags.
seems codeforces trend of downvoting comments that never ends :-p
really?!
I know how it feels your idea of locking the ranklist is very nice. But one thing which i have understood is Codechef dont want to stop cheating in long challenges. This may sound harsh but its the truth. They are now only interested in the number of people participating and not on the fairness of quality. If codechef would be willing to improve then it would have atleast banned the telegram groups and removing the accounts of culprits. This long challenge is a complete mockery its better to switch to Codeforces where you can know your true potentials.Let cheaters keep on cheating in Codechef because Codechef dont want to teach the cheater a lesson.#Codechef_Please_Improve
One should have the courage to post from his original CC account, if he really wants the public to listen to his suggestions.
Why everytime, people want to rant about Long challenges. Why have you become so obsessed with rating. Believe me the problems in this monthās Long challenge are really good. Days spent in debugging, days spent in thinking about the correct approach, coding a new logic altogether after already spending days on a wrong approach, getting red on some testcases, thinking about them for hours, learning altogether a new data structure or efficient algorithm to optimise your program and finally getting AC. This is the real challenge. The journey to the AC, that green tick is worth it, when you finally see the green screen flash, it gives real satisfaction.
And those saying, better switch to CF, Codeforces and Codechef have a completely different pattern altogether. How often you have just given a random try on a problem on CF and then directly jumped to the editorial. Is that you call learning, maybe you AC a problem there but the learning part is very little by taking help from the editorial. The different paths to approach the problem, some of them may work and some of them might not, the thinking process matters, your debugging skills matter, this is what CC Long challenge helps you to cultivate. CF problems are based more on logic and tricks, so you can learn that part from there.
I have an even better idea to prevent cheating. Stop all contests. No contest = no cheating.
Generally its the cheaters who are pissed off about ārampant cheatingā. They wish only they had access to cheat material and no one else.
Pretty sure the āoriginal cc accountā is full of cheated results. OP is either worried about his fellow cheaters judging him; or doesnāt want his previous submissions to be analyzed deeply.
I think codechef is doing all in its power to stop cheating with making sure that genuine coders donāt loose faith in codechef. I joined codechef 3 months ago itās a hell of a experience what I gained here and made better than my previous version . So, we should respect the platform, and talking about I know itās unfair but cheaters donāt have progress So, eventually one day u will pass through them. So, donāt feel depressed buddy
I donāt know why people like you want everybody to move to codeforces just because you think your rating is better in codeforces than codechef.
People cheat in university exams where invigilator is present , I want to know what revolutionary technique you would adopt to stop cheating in an online contest?
Would banning telegram groups solve the situation?
Letās assume telegram groups are banned , how will you ban whatsapp groups?
āREMOVING THE ACCOUNTS OF CULPRITSā how to find them?
The only way to overcome cheating is to be better than the cheaters.
You are right. Iām not saying that Iām at advance level.Sometime I struggle with simple question. For question Chefina and Swaps I submitted 19 solutions and till 15th submission I didnāt even get partial score. Finally after investing more than 4 hours i got 100 pts. Then I checked submission list and many people were struggling in the same way( Again Iām not saying that Iām talented they arenāt, just talking about the question quality ). I was happy that the question was worth for investing 4 hours. But suddenly I saw that two of my friends who are 1 star and 2 start after participating in more then 7 contest they solved this question in One go. I canāt share what i felt.
@humane Agree with you, but the problem is those who are helping them in cheating are better than us.

So the solution is we have to get better than them.
Accident. Sorry!
- You should not have multiple accounts on CodeChef. If you have, then you should delete all except one.

Have you have deleted your previous account before posting on this one?
